This course is a survey of microorganisms with special emphasis on bacteria and their relationship to human beings. It covers eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell structure and function, microbial nutrition and growth, genetics and control of microorganisms. It includes basic biology of bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa and viruses with particular emphasis on bacteriology. The course includes both lecture and laboratory instruction.
