Minimum GPA Requirement
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher throughout their program. This standard applies from the first term of enrollment through degree conferral.
Academic Standing — GPA Provisions
Academic Warning
A student whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 at the end of any term will be placed on Academic Warning. The student will be notified in writing by the program director and must meet with their academic advisor to review their academic standing and develop a plan for improvement.
Academic Probation
A student whose cumulative GPA remains below 3.0 for a second consecutive term will be placed on Academic Probation. The student will be notified in writing by the program director and must meet with their academic advisor to establish a formal remediation plan. The conditions and timeline for returning to good standing will be outlined in the probation notice.
Academic Suspension and Dismissal
A student whose cumulative GPA remains below 3.0 for a third consecutive term will be subject to Academic Suspension and Dismissal from the program. Students receiving notification of Academic Dismissal shall be notified by the University Registrar and shall not be eligible for graduate study or readmission at Reinhardt University.
A student may appeal a dismissal by submitting a letter to the Vice President for Academic Affairs describing the condition and identifying the reasons for seeking a positive decision of the appeal. See Grievance and Appeal Procedures below.
Course Grade Standards — The "F" Rule
First Grade of "F"
A student who earns a first grade of "F" in any course must repeat that course. The repeated course must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
Second Grade of "F"
A student who earns a second grade of "F" in any course — regardless of whether it is the same course or a different course — will be subject to immediate Academic Dismissal. See Academic Suspension and Dismissal above.
